Some of your comments about the steam locos, well? As I am to young to have seen the ’Duchesses’ in the tin, I for one am glad to have the opportunity. As I am sure a lot more enthusiasts are.

On a Diesel note has anyone thought of Class 60 preservation yet ?????? unfortunately not that I can help except taking pictures

This is typical of the NRM they have so much stuff they can’t afford to preserve much of it especially when they are spending so much money on steam eg the cosmetic streamlining of the Duchess and the length of time they are spending on the Flying Scotsman — a Preservation railway would ahve spent a lot less money and it would be back in service fully safe and main line ready last year

That is truly shocking, never seen that class before and what a cracking example that could make, look at those delicious LMS logos, style or what?

Hi Martin, not sure where they were at, so can’t say how they were looked after. I was under the impression if a railway had some of the national collection that they had to look after it to the N.R.Ms. specification.
